We Recognize You Strada: "It Matters"!
LA bred powerhouse Hillary Taymour made an awesome debut with her brand – Collina Strada on Saturday evening during New York Fashion Week. Not only is Strada an ethical designer, her Spring/Summer 2017 collection was a melaninated mosaic not to be reckoned with. Her platform spoke out to the Black Lives Matter Movement and subsequently that Black Models Matter.

Intentionally called, “It Matters”, her casting was completely comprised of black women and men; sending a message that fashion needs more diversity! Her models were predominantly of darker hues and contrary to popular "high" fashion trends, their roots (hair roots) were kept natural. It was a sheer statement of authenticity; going against the status quo.
For years we have applauded Strada for her local production efforts while consistently being able to source more sustainable materials. This enchanting showcase featured original styles and gender-fluid silhouettes. With raw edges and muted palettes, the energy was bold and mysterious. The brand is a true combination of vintage and modern style. And we're never going to forget about this kiss of melanin which unapologetically spoke for change.
