SHADES: A Melanin Rich Celebration of Sisterhood & Sustainability
We are kicking off the month of November with Black woman empowerment! Today we are celebrating Black womanhood and how the scope of sustainability includes not only how we show up in the world but how we support the beauty of each other. Rooted in a rich love of “melanin”, we have partnered with poet, writer, author Mel Chanté to visually capture the joy and jazz of sisterhood.
Mel Chanté shares an original poem from her debut poetry book brown butter. This particular piece, “Shades”, visually shows how much we need self-love and the importance of unapologetically sustaining that pride and joy.
“Brown Skin is eclectic and electrifying, that’s what I want ‘Shades’ to make people feel.”
- Mel Chanté
