Maasai Plum & Oneida Strawberry:A Global Eco-Design Collaboration
The first of its kind in the WORLD! A Native American and African Indigenous Eco-design collection to be presented in New York this September.
Idia'Dega has co-designed a collection based on the June flowering fruits that blossom in Olorgesailie and Oneida. In Kenya, it’s the plum and in Oneida the strawberry. In fact, the Haudenosaunee people (the Oneida is one of the Six Nations) call June, Strawberry Moon. Combining the environmental and cultural connections of these communities, Idia'Dega created a collection that builds on these and other shared cultural, creative and environmental themes.
They need your support to buy the sustainable fabrics and materials, beads (both artisans groups use the same Czech glass beads, size 11!) and to fund the artisans work.
Their work will be presented this Fall during New York Fashion Week in September, continuing the amazing collaboration with a gallery in Brooklyn.
