Why start a natural skin care brand?
My love of natural skin care began with an unfortunate illness that happened 10 years ago with
my oldest son, who was barely two years old at the time. Since I was getting the run around
from doctors, I knew I needed to educate myself on holistic, naturopathic and homeopathic
options. This search and the success of a butter mixture (shea butter, black walnut hull extract,
goldenseal, castor oil, ashwagandha) that helped heal his infection I began to truly research and
obsess over ingredients. After researching many many ingredients, I literally threw out all of the
products that we had in our pantry and started on a journey of replacing products with
unhealthy ingredients with those that were not only healing, soothing, and worked to
complement our bodies, but also began handcrafting products when I wasn’t satisfied with the
options available. I began with hair care, first, then four year later once I mastered the hair care
products, I moved on to handcrafting skin care and growing my knowledge and love even
further of the benefits of earthly ingredients.

What are your core ingredients? Where are they sourced?
There are so many that It’s a bit difficult to name our core ingredients. I will say, we love using
organic, wild crafted and cold pressed oils, butters, essential oils, sugars, salts, honey and
hydrosols. Many of our ingredients are sourced from growers in the Tennessee and Georgia
area, as well as Utah, Oregon and Colorado, where quite a few of the ingredients can be foraged
in their natural habitat.

Does being a WOC influence your brand? If so, how?
Because I am a huge advocate in regards to inclusivity in the ‘green beauty’ industry, I believe
being a WOC has some pros and cons. The pros are that we get to expose much of a
demographic that is not marketed to in terms of ‘green beauty’ because of the incorrect
assumption that POC are not interested in ingredients, healthy and holistic living. The pros are
that other POC will definitely strive to advocate for you because of the exclusivity and the desire
of wanting to see ourselves behind a brand that is sustainable, healthy and holistic. The con of
the same mentioned above is that because I am a WOC behind the brand, we are many times
overlooked as being a part of the ‘green beauty’ community..or many non POC automatically
assume that because I am a WOC behind the brand, the products are only for POC.

How do you choose to become conscious / sustainable in other areas of your life?

In our household, as many who know us have experienced and for those who have supported
our social media pages see, we strive to live an overall holistic lifestyle. Our 4 children are homeschooled, the cleaning products we use for our home as well as our equipment are plant
based, we flood our home with live plants not only for their beauty but for their benefit of clean
air, our children’s pediatrician is a homeopathic doctor in Atlanta, the containers we use to
package our products and down to the foods we eat, we try to stay mindful of living healthy,
holistic and happy.
How do you see the future of natural skincare and holistic wellness?
I honestly can’t say, but what I can do is speak about what I hope to see, and that is, I hope to
see the continuance of educating communities, especially lower social demographic areas, on
the benefits of holistic living. I hope that households educate children early on the mindfulness
that what we put on our bodies is equally as important as what we put in it. I hope to see more
people in the green beauty market truly reach out beyond their walls and educate, spread
awareness and inspire a love of returning to nature and how it can work in harmony with our
Whole self without instilling fear because I am a firm oppose of utilizing fear to influence people
to do anything. Encourage and inspire, don’t scare.
