My 3rd Trimester Is A Balance of Mental Preparation, Body Movement, Rest & Comfort While Wearing WOC-Owend Eco Fashion

ABUNDANCE - I’m so elated to share that I am officially in my third trimester. During this time - I’m focusing on the balance of mental preparation, body movement, rest and true comfort. Although I’m not purchasing “maternity clothing”, I’m being very intentional about supporting versatile BIPOC/ WOC owned sustainable apparel brands - as it’s very important for me to continue to amplify these values during this time of wound manifestation and beyond.

One of my favorite WOC eco-friendly active wear brands is Satva - a company I interviewed in 2019. What’s beautiful about Satva is not only their commitment to using GOTS certified non-GMO organic cotton but their investment in working directly with Indian cotton farmers and their approach to agricultural production transparency.

During my pregnancy journey I’ve found several of their pieces so comfortable for working out, running errands and lounging around the house! I’m elated to continue to experience the brand through these final stages and once I’m back active after recovery!

I’m also excited to share that I connected with founder - PUJA BARAR - to ask her a few more questions about being a WOC sustainable small business owner:

What has been the most challenging and also most rewarding aspects of being a WOC owned small business during this time?

I am surrounded with beautiful, smart, like-minded women and it is amazing to see how supportive women are for each other.I find it rewarding as they totally feel my passion for my work and support me 100%! These are my colleagues, friends, business consultants and my buyers. Personally, I have not experienced any challenges of being WOC owned small business. I have always found people that have helped me through my journey and am grateful for that as it is not easy to do it all on your own.

What advice would you give WOC owned start-up brands at this time?

Life and business can seem challenging during dark times but if you stay true to yourself and truly believe in your dreams and aspirations, then you must go on as there is always light at the end of the road. I believe that if you truly desire something, then the universe conspires to get you what you want.

I have always believed in this theory and reminded myself of the same, when I felt everything was coming to an end for me. Stay strong and never give up!
