Majenye is a Plant-based Brand Infused with Crystals and Grounded in High Vibrations
Majenye is a plant-based brand infused with crystals and grounded in high vibrations. These wild-crafted products are inspired by a connection to the elements by combining botanicals, superfoods, essential oils, and natural minerals to help bring balance to the body’s largest and most visible organ, the skin.
Check out our interview with founder Majenye:
When and why did you start Majenye? Majenye was born in 2019 as a necessity. After living in Florida for a couple years and returning back to D.C., my skin was chaotic: I had dry spots, and my skin wasn’t retaining moisture. This was something I had never experienced before, so I started searching for natural remedies to address my skin concerns. After I began making my own products, I saw a difference immediately. And as a spiritual person, I’m also drawn to curating an energetic environment that serves my greatest good. My home is filled with crystals, palo santo, sage, and other elements that balance my energy, keep me positive and uplifted. I was a part of an accelerator program and was completing an assignment when I realized that I needed to fuse skincare and spirituality together. It was at that point that I decided to incorporate crystals and spiritual wellness into my brand mission.
How do you define sustainability? Sustainability to me is taking accountability and ownership of your role in climate change. That can be different for everyone: recycling more often, carpooling to work, minimizing one-time use of plastic packaging, or putting solar panels in your home. Like many consumers, sometimes you don't really know where to start, however, something as small as switching over to a solid shampoo and conditioner can make an impact. Sustainability is very important to me, that's why Majenye sticks to recyclable glass packaging so that our jars can be repurposed for future use.

Where are your ingredients sourced and how? I hand pick all of my ingredients based on the properties I want each of my products to have. I curate the suppliers carefully to ensure that they are indeed organic, and if they have relationships with vendors in other countries, that they are paying their employees a livable wage for their services.
Does being Black owned/ BIPOC owned influence/ impact your brand? Yes, it absolutely does impact my brand. For years, Black business owners have not been given an equal opportunity to break into retail spaces. The barriers of entry due to racism is certainly something my brand and other Black-owned brands have faced. However, as a Black woman, unfortunately it is not an anomaly, it is a way of life. I love that the beauty industry is starting to address this issue and creating space for Black-owned brands to shine. Personally, I am always striving to consistently present Majenye as not only a luxury, crystal-infused skincare brand, but a brand that truly cares about all of its patrons. Inclusiveness is important, and we want everyone to feel like they can experience self-care in a way that honors who they are at their core.
What has been the greatest challenge thus far? My greatest challenge so far has been marketing the brand. Majenye is always on the hunt for new and creative ways to amplify our voice and introduce our offerings to the world.

What are you most inspired by and excited for as your brand grows? I am truly excited about Majenye's partnership with Whole Foods, and possibly breaking into other retail spaces. When you are building a brand from the ground up, each new retailer is an accomplishment. I am proud of what Majeneye has achieved so far and eager to see the brand grow in the next couple of years.
